ARE THESE DANGEROUS OILS IN YOUR PANTRY?

Many people think that all vegetable oils are healthy, Wrong!! Canola Oil is one of the worst oils you can consume because it’s HIGHLY INFLAMMATORY and increases your risk of heart disease, hypertension, insulin resistance and it lowers antioxidant protection. HUGE RED FLAG! THROW IT OUT!! It is a modified oil created to be less toxic than the original rapeseed oil it’s derived from. In order to create it, they use high heat and solvents such as hexane and synthetic antioxidants to keep it stable. Here is a list of other bad offenders that you need to remove as well:

Soybean Oil

Sunflower Oil

Safflower Oil

Corn Oil

Know where else these dangerous oil are hiding? Salad dressings and fast food! Check it out and see for yourself! Salad dressings are almost always made with Canola or Soybean Oils! My recommendation….ditch the pre-made salad dressings and the fried fast food and opt for healthier choices.

Here is one of my favorite dressings, that tastes light and bright!

  • Lemon Garlic Salad Dressing
  • juice of 1 1/2 lemons
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tsp. sour cream (or greek yogurt)
  • squeeze of honey to taste
  • 1/3 cup Carrington Unflavored Coconnut Oil
  • !/4 cup of Olive Oil
  • Salt & Pepper to taste

Best Oils To Cook With

CAUTION!! Make sure the oil you are cooking with can tolerate the heat you are cooking at!!

Coconut Oil: Carrington Farms has a liquid unflavored coconut oil that I love to use in baking and sautéing to temperatures up to 350 degrees.

Avocado Oil: This is my go to oil when I am roasting meats, vegetables or using it to stir-fry because it is able to tolerate a higher temperatures….up to 500 degrees.

Olive Oil: Perfect to use in salad dressings, hummus or other low to medium temp cooking recipes

Grass Fed Butter/Ghee: Kerrygold is my grass-fed butter of choice and is available in most stores. Grass-fed is important because it has more essential Omega-3 Fatty Acids, 500% more CLA’s, Fat Soluble Vitamins like Vit A. Vit D, Vit K, and Vit E.

Hemp Oil: Delicate oil that needs to be kept in the fridge, but is great for cold applications like salad dressings, dips, and smoothies. It has optimal ratio of of omega-3 and omega-6 fats fatty acids.
