Coronavirus Got You In A Panic? Boost Your Immune System Instead!

It seems like the whole world is in a press-induced panic over the Coronavirus. Grocery stores shelves are being wiped clean of hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes…. travel is being affected…..and the stock market is plunging! YIKES! It’s enough to make anyone a little fearful…but let’s not get sucked into the hysteria and respond to this potential threat with a victim mindset….feeling helpless. Let’s get PROACTIVE! We are not helpless, we are resourceful! Let’s start focusing on what we CAN DO! We CAN REDUCE our chances of getting sick by following these guidelines as well as actively working on boosting our immune systems through prevention, nutrition, and supplements.

  • Eat a Healthy Diet filled with nutrient packed veggies, fruits, lean meats and good fats
  • Exercise
  • Get Enough Sleep
  • Stay Hydrated
  • Wash Your Hands Frequently! Be especially vigilant in crowded public places like airports, schools, restaurants etc. Wipe down shopping cart handles, airport tray tables, arm rests , or any other area you may be touching if you are able to.
  • Keep your hands away from your face and don’t touch your eyes, nose or mouth!
  • Minimize or Avoid contact with those who are sick.

IMMUNE BOOSTING ARSENAL

“Let our advance worrying become advance thinking and planning.”

What is your plan? Mine is to follow the “best practices” above as well as continue to boost my immune system through the addition of various nutritional supplements listed below. I am not a Doctor, nor am I advising you to follow any of the protocols listed below. This information is based on my own in-depth research and passed along for educational purposes only. You should do your own research and speak with your physician as to what options, protocols, and supplements are best suited for you and your family.

I prefer an Orthomolecular approach which utilizes safe, effective, nutritional therapy to fight illness over a conventional approach whenever possible! If this resonates with you as well, I encourage you to check out this informative site at http://Orthomolecular.org/resources/omns/index.shtml on the topic of the Coronavirus, and specifically the article entitled, “Nutritional Treatment of Coronavirus” by Andrew W. Saul, Editor

VITAMIN C

Check out my previous blog post about Lypospheric Vitamin-C by LivOn Laboratories. Since I already wrote about this supplement, I’m not going to go back over it, but this is my GO-TO Vitamin C! I make sure and ALWAYS keep it on hand because it is one of the first supplements I turn to when I start feeling even the slightest twinges of getting sick. It is as close as you can get to an IV therapy because of its enhanced absorption which uses a patented technology of lipospheres that wrap around the Vit. C protecting it as it passes through the digestive system so it can then be transported to the bloodstream and absorbed into the cells.

VITAMIN D

Have you had your Vitamin D level checked? Vitamin D deficiency weakens your immune system, so it’s important that you are monitoring this level and the recommended supplementation with your health care provider. Ideal levels are between 50-90. According to this recent article in Pharmacy Times http://pharmacytimes.com/news/vitamin-d-helps-the-immune-system-during-cold-and-flu-season “low levels of Vitamin D have also been associated with frequent colds and influenza.” So it appears we need Vitamin D to keep our immune systems balanced. This same article also referenced another clinical trial in 2017, that suggested taking Vitamin D daily or weekly was more effective than if taken in single or monthly boluses. So consistency is KEY!

ZINC

Can Zinc ward off the Coronavirus? Check out this article dated 03/05/20 from MedicineNet.com, by Peter Schelden, “Can Zinc Lozenges Ward Off Coronavirus? What Doctors Say? http://Medicinenet.com

According to the article, James Robb, who was one of the first pathologists to study the Coronavirus, had an email to family and friends that was leaked online…where he gave several tips for stopping the spread of the virus but also included the importance of zinc lozenges. He specifically recommends using the lozenges as directed several times a day, and gave instructions to lie down and let the medicine “dissolve in the back of your throat and nasopharynx. Cold-Eeze lozenge is one brand available, but there are other brands available.” The treatment seems to works when at least 75mg of elemental zinc is taken within the first 24 hours of cold symptoms developing. Zinc can cause stomach upset so you may want to take with food.

PROBIOTICS

“All disease begins in the gut” Hippocrates

The majority of our immune system resides in our gut! The bacteria that live in our gut help our immune system’s T cells develop so they will know the difference between a foreign invader and our own body’s tissues. This is extremely important because if this system gets out of balance and allows for the overgrowth of bad bacteria, it can lead to the body’s immune system attacking its own cells, which is exactly what happens in autoimmune diseases.

The best way to improve gut health? The right Probiotic as well as feeding your gut microbiome a diverse source of prebiotics. I encourage you to watch this Youtube video with Dr. Tom O’Bryan at http://youtu.be/qUlhB9ADksY Dr. Tom recommends MEGAsporebiotic which I can say from personal experience is amazing.

MINIMIZE STRESS AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE

Have a healthy outlet for stress. Prayer, meditation, yoga, cooking, reading, massage, music, being in nature, walking the dog, helping others….find something that brings you joy and peace and centers you.

Be Happy! Be Healthy! Be Positive! And do as much good as possible.
